The long awaited, annual Trailer Boat Fishing Tournament will take place once again at Port Stephens during the Easter holidays. A three-day event, the tournament is a fishing competition for small boat anglers, and anyone can participate, regardless of age or skill. Chiefly for first time competitors, the tournament arrangement is carefully curated toward family groups, whilst the Junior segment is quite competitive. The tournament is marked as a fun and constructive holiday for families within the region; with accommodation in Port Stephens hard to find, as many resorts, like the Oaks Pacific Blue Resort, for example, are soon booked up during the season. Despite the large number of anglers taking part, most of the fish caught are big and heavy, and almost always returned to sea. Thus, the tournament is always encouraged because of its minimal effect on local fish.
