Travel Restrictions Are Lifted for Those Coming from the UK – With Precautions in Place

The temporary travel restrictions imposed by the government on those who are travelling from the United Kingdom to Sri Lanka were lifted with immediate effect. These restrictions were in place on account of the new COVID-19 variant in the UK. Travellers are subjected to a 14-day quarantine period upon arrival and PCR testing. This is determined in guidance from the Sri Lankan Ministry of Health. Travellers arriving from the UK will be transported to a star-class resort with Level 1 recognition such as Heritance Ayurveda where they can spend their quarantine period comfortably while enjoying an occasional Ayurveda treatment in Sri Lanka.

Transit through Sri Lanka is allowed for these travellers as well, but only if the connecting flight is scheduled in under ten hours of arrival. Travellers are also advised to refrain from requesting NHS testing and get a private test done if they are planning to travel to another country.
