Travel Restrictions Between Reunion and Mauritius Eased – A Key Boost for Tourism

In an encouraging move, the Prefecture of Reunion Island repealed its previous travel restrictions to Mauritius and South Africa on 14th February 2022; travel to these destinations would be subject to their respective colour zone which at the time was “orange” for both. This provided a much-needed boost for Mauritius with Reunion being a key market for the island’s tourism sector.

In another development, Mauritius also updated its entry requirements for tourists on 12th March 2022; fully vaccinated travellers no longer need to present a negative result of a PCR test conducted 72 hours before arrival. Instead, they must submit to an antigen test on arrival at the hotel they are staying at; if the result is negative, they are free to travel around the island. Tourists can once more enjoy exploring this idyllic destination and staying at some of the best resorts in Mauritius; options include coastal resorts the likes of The Residence Mauritiuswhich also have stringent health and hygiene measures in place.
