Travel Restrictions to the Maldives Lifted – Country Opens Up for Tourists

The Maldives is once more open for tourists looking to visit this tropical island nation in the Indian Ocean. This easing of restrictions follows months of dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic which saw travel bans on a global scale. On 15th July 2020, the country opened up resorts and hotels on uninhabited islands as well as permitted liveaboards to operate; at the beginning of this month, properties on inhabited islands were allowed to open as well.

Additionally, tourists will not be quarantined on arrival, though they will be required to present a health declaration card. These positive steps along with the following of strict safety and health protocols will hopefully lead to tourists slowly but surely returning to the Maldives; bungalow options over the water at properties such as Anantara Veli Maldives Resort are amongst the popular accommodation choices on offer for travellers looking to once again enjoy this enchanting country.
