Tunisia and the UK launch sustainable tourism charter in Tunisia
Help save the environment
The British embassy in Tunisia has taken a step forward and launched a ‘Sustainable Tourism Charter’ in Hammamet – a popular tourist spot for British holiday goers in Tunisia. This has been initiated in partnership with the Municipality of Hammamet, the Ministry of Tourism, ABTA, TUI, Tunisia’s waste management agency and also the Federation of Tunisian Hoteliers.
This initiative was launched in late November by the British ambassador and the Minister of Tourism. As per the WWF, almost 600,000 tonnes of plastic are being dumped into the Mediterranean Sea every year. This project is likely to attract more eco-friendly tourists to Tunisia hotels, the likes of Anantara Tozeur Resort.
