Tunisian tourism reported a rebound of 66% of revenues – The tourism industry thrives

The tourism sector in Tunisia has shown significant recovery and positive growth following the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic. In 2022, the number of tourist arrivals reached over 6.4 million, a remarkable increase of more than 160% compared to 2021. This surge in arrivals contributed to tourism revenues of 4.2 billion dinars, an 83% increase compared to the previous year.

The Tunisian Ministry of Tourism has implemented a practical plan to revive tourism activity by diversifying products in Tunisia, sightseeing is also heavily promoted along with tourism offers to cater to the changing demands of visitors. These efforts have exceeded the targets set for the year, with tourism figures reaching 50-60% of the levels recorded in 2019, and overall performance reaching around 70% of 2019 figures.

Tourism revenues in 2022 recovered 76% of the levels seen in 2019, demonstrating the sector’s resilience and positive trajectory. The number of nights spent by foreign tourists at hotels like The Residence Tunis also saw a significant increase of about 140% compared to 2021, amounting to approximately 20 million tourist nights and recovering about 65% of the nights recorded in 2019.
