Turkey To Facilitate Visa-Free Travel for Maldivians

Good news for the Maldivians: Turkey is to sign a visa facilitation agreement with the Maldives to allow Maldivians to enter the transcontinental country without obtaining a prior visa. This was announced at a joint press conference hosted by Abdulla Shahid, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Maldives, and Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkey. The Maldivian foreign minister stated that he had proposed to initiate visa-free travel between two countries to elevate the people-to-people relationship between Turkey and the Maldives. Mr. Shahid expressed his gratitude to Minister Çavuşoğlu and the Government of Turkey for the decision to strengthen the already close relationship between the two countries. As a popular travel destination for many tourists, Turkey became the sixth country for which the Maldivian government granted visa-free travel to Maldivians, after the United Arab Emirates, Russia, China, Morocco, and China.
