Turning Quality Into Revenue — Singapore Tourism Receipts Jump 5.8% to S$8.6B in Q1

In the first quarter of 2026, Singapore saw a delightful uptick in tourism, welcoming more visitors and reaping greater financial rewards from them. According to the Singapore Tourism Board, tourism receipts climbed by 5.8 per cent, hitting S$8.6 billion, compared to S$8.1 billion the previous year. The number of visitors also rose, reaching 4.4 million, which marks a 2.9 per cent increase from the same period last year.

The most significant increase came from spending on attractions and entertainment, which soared by 22.8 per cent to reach S$2 billion. Shopping also saw a nice uptick, climbing 7 per cent to S$1.4 billion, as visitors opted for more luxurious purchases. Many travellers searching for places to stay in Singapore leaned towards budget-friendly options like Value Hotel Nice, even though overall hotel spending remained relatively stable. China continued to be the leading source of visitors and revenue. STB chief executive Melissa Ow mentioned that the board is collaborating with partners to maintain strong demand, despite the uncertainties in the global landscape.
