UK visitor numbers to Maldives up 11% this year – Green light to tourism in Maldives

The Maldives is glad to announce the recent growth of 11% in the number of travellers from the United Kingdom in the first eight months of the year as revealed by World Travel Market. The increase in travellers which has ushered in much revenue to the Maldives, is a clear indication of the ever-dynamic interests of Europeans, who have shifted their focus to tropical destinations. This is also a reflection of the growing trends of the European-traveller market. Thanks to its abundance of luxury resorts and renowned hotel chains such as the PER AQUUM Hotels & Resorts, the Maldives is able to expand its growth at a steady pace each year. Moving forward, the Island-nation is set to welcome the arrival of 10 new resorts while it re-develops the Gan International Airport at an investment of $50 million, all with the intention of expanding the industry.
