UNDP collaborates with Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority to build back tourism – A sustainable Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA) has collaborated with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) for a special project to create the sustainability factor within the tourism industry of Sri Lanka. The main objective of this program is to make this industry a sustainable, green, and resilient one soon in the future. Under this collaborative project, Sigiriya will be chosen as the first Sri Lankan attraction to be certified with the Sustainable Destination Certificate.

Travellers holidaying at hotels in Yala the likes of Leopard Safaris Yala by KK Collection can easily visit Sigiriya which is also known as the Lion Rock. Under this program, its nearby attractions such as Pidurangala and Kalu Diya Pokuna will also be further developed to make them more tourist-friendly. Reducing the environmental pollution happening around these attractions will be the main objective of the program initiated by the UNDP and SLTDA.
