Vaccinated Travellers to Thailand Exempted from Quarantine – An Attempt to Boost Tourism

Thailand resumed its quarantine waiver, “Test & Go”, for vaccinated travellers from the 1st of February this year. This requires visitors to test upon arrival, and then again, five days later; they should also agree to have their whereabouts tracked. The authorities also extended the hours that restaurants are allowed to serve alcohol from 9 pm to 11 pm; thus, those who were spending their holidays at Pathumwan Princess Hotel or any other Bangkok city hotel could enjoy a drink with their loved ones at night if needed.

These moves were focused on boosting the tourism sector that was crippled by the COVID-19 pandemic; its numbers were limited by the reduced travel demand and the strict quarantine requirements of the country. Thailand’s coronavirus task force also agreed to work on a similar quarantine waiver programme, which will cover Pattaya and Koh Chang – popular beach destinations.
