The Maldives is one of several destinations in the world that is promoting what it calls “vaccine vacations” whereby tourists can enjoy a holiday here as well as receive a COVID-19 vaccination. Known as the 3V Programme, centred around the concept of “Visit, Vaccinate, Vacation”, this initiative is expected to launch this year; as reported on the Raajje news website on 23rd July 2021, Dr. Abdulla Mausoom, the country’s Tourism Minister, stated that this programme will begin in the third or fourth quarter of 2021.
This programme will no doubt draw more travellers for holidays to the Maldives; overwater villa accommodation aside at private island resorts like OZEN LIFE MAADHOO, tourists will be able to enjoy safe stays which will include getting the COVID-19 vaccination that will be an added plus point. However, such an initiative will only commence once all Maldivian citizens have been vaccinated which is on course to be completed soon as well.
