Victoria Falls Opens Again – Hopes That Tourism Will Pick Up

Following its closure, the famed Victoria Falls has opened up again both on the Zambian and Zimbabwean sides. In May, President Edgar Lungu of Zambia initiated the opening up of the falls for tourism which was on hold due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This gave those staying at a Livingstone hotel nearby such as The Royal Livingstone Victoria Falls Zambia Hotel by Anantara, a chance to witness the falls which recorded the highest water flow in a decade.

Access to Victoria Falls on the Zimbabwean side took a bit longer and opened up from June when limited numbers of visitors were allowed to the site. As reported by TimesLIVE, the second-biggest news website in South Africa, the Zimbabwe Parks and Wildlife Management Authority has urged the government to reopen the falls for domestic tourists due to prevalent international travel restrictions.
