Destinations across Vietnam have become proactive in coming up with digital transformation programmes with the expectation of tapping into tourism development. This was highlighted on the Vietnam+ (VietnamPlus) news website on 25th February 2022 which also went on to reveal that such initiatives have come about following the launch of the country’s National Digital Transformation Programme. Amongst the examples was Thua Thien-Hue which was utilising Tiktok and Zalo to promote tourism sites; also mentioned was the Thanh Hoa province that had initiated a smart travel platform with Augmented Reality (AR) technology.
It was further revealed that the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism has partnered with Google to use the Google Arts & Culture online platform to promote the “Wonders of Vietnam” with numerous images and videos. Amongst the featured destinations, is the Ancient Town of Hoi An; accommodation options to be found in the city such as Citadines Pearl Hoi An provide an ideal base from which to visit this historical town which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
