Vietnamese Mark Lunar New Year with Traditional Fish Release – Let the good luck flow in!

In February 2021, locals in Vietnam engaged in an impressive tradition where they released fish into rivers and lakes hoping for good luck and prosperity. They followed this tradition in preparation for the Lunar New year, and this was exactly a week before Tet, a Vietnamese public holiday.

Foreign travellers who were holidaying at beach resorts in Vietnam the likes of Anantara Quy Nhon Villas were also likely to have been curious to see this local tradition performed by massive crowds of people. Those who were more curious also went that extra mile and learned about the origin of this ritual and its background story. According to the news from Vietnam, many people refrained from using plastic bags this time to release fish into lakes.
