Visa Waiver for Cruise Passengers Visiting the Philippines – Initiative Set to Boost Tourism
The Philippines has introduced a new cruise visa waiver programme, offering a streamlined entry process for foreign tourists arriving on cruise ships who would typically require a visa. This initiative, a joint effort by the Department of Tourism, the Bureau of Immigration, and the Department of Justice, was officially launched at the Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Authority in Pasay City this July.
Designed specifically for cruise tourism, the visa waiver allows foreign nationals to stay in the Philippines for a designated period, provided they arrive and depart on the same cruise vessel. Due to this initiative, the country anticipates around 117 cruise visits in 2024, potentially bringing in around 118,000 passengers and boosting tourism.
Amongst the well-known destinations in the country for a port of call is Manila, the cosmopolitan capital. The city remains a major draw not only for cruise ship passengers but also for global travellers looking to experience a rich history and culture, shopping delights, culinary adventures, and fun nightlife. Makati serviced residences in Legazpi Village, a premier district, continue to be a popular accommodation choice at properties like Citadines Benavidez Makati which makes an ideal base to enjoy the best of the capital.
