Way forward for Sri Lanka after COVID-19

Recovering from a Pandemic

The COVID-19 outbreak has had a significant effect on the world’s tourism industries. The way forward for countries like Sri Lanka will have to be a cautious one to ensure the safety of the populace. In order to prevent the spread of the virus, most countries have begun to restrict commercial flights. What’s more, curfews and lockdowns being implemented means that travelling itself has stopped for the most part.

With international tourism essentially being paused for the near future, countries will likely begin promoting local tourism. This could mean promoting local attractions on a far wider scale than seen before. Additionally, hotels in Sri Lanka – say, for example, the Amagi Hotels – can also assist by promoting attractions that are close to their properties.
