Visitors vacationing in Indonesia’s beach capital’s Holiday Inn Resort Baruna Bali among many a Bali family resort were treated to the cultural experience of a lifetime thanks to the annual Penjor & Gebogan Competition held from the 2nd to the 4th of September. The event kicked off with pomp and pageantry amidst the local Balinese festival known as Galungan. This year’s contest was organised by none other than the South Kuta Beach Business Association (also known as the SKBBA) in collaboration with the Kuta Village to bring a seasonal spectacle to the spotlight for both the tourists and the locals alike.
Having takes place at Jalan Kartika ‘s Lippo Mall Kuta, within the confines of the VIP Parking Area the two contests took place separately with the bamboo Penjor poles decorated in record time with fruits, colourful floral arrangements , palm fronts and event unhusked rice while the triangle shaped Gebogans was decorated with similar offerings to the delight and cheering of spectators below.
