WTTC’s 22nd Global Summit Held in Saudi Arabia

A Focus on “Travel for a Better Future”

Marking the event’s largest edition yet, the WTTC’s (World Travel & Tourism Council) 22nd Global Summit took place at the end of last year in Saudi Arabia’s capital, Riyadh. The summit which ran from 28th November to 1st December 2022 brought together key international industry leaders and government representatives looking to combine their efforts to bolster the recovery of travel and tourism. “Travel for a Better Future” was the event’s theme with an emphasis on sustainability that benefits the environment and local communities.

Some of the topics discussed were the Global Business of Travel, Capitalising on Untapped Opportunities, Investing in Mega-Events, Leading for a Global Sustainable Future and Innovating Travel & Tourism; also featured were topics like the Return of Travel, Maximising Tourism Opportunities in the Middle East, Recovery of Travel in Asia & The Pacific and Enhancing Connectivity in the Americas. It’s clear, not just from this summit, but from the increased arrivals at countries that have reopened their borders as well, that the post-pandemic period is seeing a resurgence in travel. This will no doubt create many new opportunities and global hospitality educators including the likes of the Asian Institute of Hospitality Management will be key for those looking to join the tourism and hospitality industries.
