Xinjin Dragon Boat Race 2015- Commemorating a patriotic poet

The Dragon Boat festival which has been taking place since the Tang Dynasty is scheduled to be held on the 20th of June 2015. This colourful event takes place in the serene Min River in Xinjin and tourists who wish to witness the event could consider seeking for accommodation at one of the serviced apartments in Chengdu such as the Ascott Raffles City Chengdu that gives easy access to the venue the festival is being held. As a practice of the festival the locals organize the race that feature dragon boats with 10 team members in one boat racing from one corner of the river to the other. The glutinous rice bundles are usually filled with hen, duck or goose eggs, wrapped in leaves and steamed. According to the legend the festival is held to commemorate Qu Yuan, a patriotic patriot.
