Year-End Events in Sri Lanka to Boost Tourism – Miss Tourism World 2022 Also Held Here

In a bid to attract more tourists, Sri Lankan Tourism has scheduled several key events on the island this month. As quoted on ETHospitalityWorld.com, the chairman of the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau, Chalaka Gajabahu, stated that such events will take place in destinations like Colombo; they will cover aspects that include entertainment and nightlife as well as beach-related experiences. Additionally, Sri Lanka Tourism is partnering with hotels, airline companies and online travel agencies to boost international arrivals to the country as well.

In another key development, Russia and Croatia which were earlier scheduled to host Miss Tourism World 2022, voluntarily decided to let Sri Lanka hold the event instead. Having launched on 8th December 2022, it will run till 21st December and is expected to add a destination value of almost USD 40 million to the nation. The contestants from 80 countries are visiting key destinations here such as Sigiriya, Kandy, Mirissa, Arugam Bay and Galle; the latter continues to be a much-loved place to visit for tourists and provides safe accommodation at properties like The Fortress Resort & Spa. Such resorts also feature versatile banquet halls in Galle ideal for hosting special events or celebrations on a holiday to the island.
