Zanzibar Named Africa’s Best Tourist Destination – Domestic Tourism Also in the Spotlight

Boosting its reputation as a key place for tourism, Zanzibar in Tanzania was named by ‘The Travel’ as the top African destination for tourists; this was put into the spotlight on the Tanzanian Daily News website on 26th May 2023 which further revealed that this Indian Ocean archipelago was mentioned as one of the most beautiful summer destinations too. Amongst the noted highlights included its idyllic islands, unspoiled white sand beaches and Zanzibar’s historical capital, Stone Town.

Apart from Zanzibar, Tanzania has many other allures and is not only looking to attract foreign tourists but its citizens as well. In July this year, the Tanzanian Daily News website also reported on how the country was planning to promote domestic tourism; this came in the wake of a visit by Commissioner Benedict Wakulyamba, the Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Tourism, to the Saanane Island National Park. He encouraged locals to also visit such attractions which would help boost tourism. Another important site mentioned was the Tarangire National Park, a popular place for game drives and safari bookings; Tanzania offers nature-based adventures on luxury safaris at such national parks organised by the likes of SkySafari which let locals and tourists alike enjoy unforgettable wildlife encounters.
