The Maldives Whale Shark Research Programme which focuses on studying whale sharks as well as getting communities involved in helping in conservation efforts, organises the Whale Shark Festival which will be held on the Saturday nearest to International Whale Shark Day; this year’s festival will take place on 29th August. Activities that one can expect to find during the event include hosting creative workshops for communities, promoting awareness on conservation and showcasing Maldivian culture as well.
