8th International Conference on World Class Sustainable Cities – strategizing greater involvement for the common good of communities

A common platform on which integrated urban solutions might be developed amongst the city’s key stakeholders should be of primary importance should one envision one’s own city to be treated amongst the best and most liveable cities in the world. Keeping these sentiments in mind, the 8th International Conference on World Class Sustainable Cities was held on the 8th of September 2016 at Sime Darby Convention Centre, Bukit Kiara in Malaysia in order to zone in on areas of importance that are in urgent need of widespread development in order to make Kuala Lumpur a truly World Class City. While the discussions and debates drew in past experiences and accomplishments, participants were also handed an opportunity to understand the efforts that government agencies, industry players and key stakeholders were making in the hope of realising this dream. While this year’s conference was held under the theme “City Spaces, Public Spaces,” the primary objectives ranged from coming up with initiatives for the improvement of the standard of public spaces and creating awareness amongst the general public on how to use these facilities for the greater good of both their city and the environment. A cross section of participants were at the conference and for those wanting to be at similar gatherings in the future, a good way to “get the ball rolling” would be to seek out preferable accommodation. One example would be the Aloft Kuala Lumpur Sentral which is categorized among 4 star hotels in Kuala Lumpur.
