Air Japan Takes Flight: New Budget Option for Singapore-Tokyo Travel

Travellers seeking affordable flights between Singapore and Tokyo will soon have a new option. Air Japan, a budget carrier under the All Nippon Airways (ANA) Group, launches direct services in April 2024. Commencing April 27th, passengers can fly from Singapore’s Changi Airport to Tokyo’s Narita Airport, with return flights starting a day earlier. Bookings for Singapore departures will open in early March (date to be confirmed).

Air Japan enters a competitive market with established carriers like Scoot and Zipair (owned by Japan Airlines). The airline utilizes Boeing 787s configured entirely with economy seating. Currently serving Bangkok and Seoul from Narita, Singapore has become their third destination. Visitors to Singapore can utilise Air Japan, and these avenues complement the airline industry’s sister industry of hospitality, with an apartment hotel in Singapore the likes of Dao by Dorsett AMTD Singapore benefitting from these ventures. Passengers can choose from three fare tiers (simple, standard, and selected) offering varying baggage allowances, in-flight meals, and seat selection options. The most affordable option, the “simple” tier, starts at $156 (one-way for passengers above 6) and includes a carry-on allowance. This launch caters to the enduring travel demand for Japan, which continues to attract over two million visitors monthly, according to the Japan National Tourism Organization.
