Thailand Witnesses Surge in Tourism Spend During Chinese New Year Festivities — A look behind the numbers
Trip.com Group data reveals a significant rise in total trip expenditure for inbound bookings in Thailand during this year’s Chinese New Year (CNY) period compared to last year. The increase stands at 44.3%, with outbound travellers also contributing to a surge of 70.8% in expenditure.
Notably, Southeast Asian tourists are being part of longer-haul journeys, extending beyond the region for CNY vacations. Countries with public holidays for CNY observe higher travel activity, contrasting with those without such holidays.
Furthermore, a shift towards early trip planning is evident, with booking windows expanding across markets. Theme parks emerge as favoured attractions, with Hong Kong Disneyland leading the list for travellers from Thailand. As Thailand’s tourism industry continues its recovery, initiatives like the recent visa-free travel agreement aim to bolster international visitation, reinforcing the country’s beauty as a top travel destination.
Amidst this surge, destinations like Phuket, including Karon Beach Phuket hotels, such as the modern Jono X Phuket Karon hotel, are poised to benefit from increased tourist spending and interest.
