Why People are heading to Japan today – A resurging hotspot of Tourism
In the first five months of this year, over 14.5 million people visited Japan, a 70% increase compared to the same period last year. This influx puts Japan on track to surpass its 2019 record of 31 million visitors. May alone saw more than 3 million visitors, with the majority coming from South Korea, China, and Taiwan to stay at such hotels as the Grand Park Otaru during their visit.
Tourist spending has surged alongside the increase in visitor numbers. The weak yen has made everything from dining to luxury goods more affordable, encouraging tourists to spend more. In the first quarter of the year, tourists spent a record ¥1.75 trillion, with Chinese tourists, in particular, contributing significantly to this spending boom through attractions and Hokkaido hotel promotion offers making for great choices in these customers’ eyes.
