Sri Lanka Offering Visa-free Entry To 35 Countries – Includes India & UK From Oct 1st
As of the first of October, Sri Lanka is offering visa-free entry to 35 countries for a 6-month programme, following the success of a similar pilot initiative in 2023. This move aims to boost tourism and strengthen diplomatic ties with these countries, including India, the United Kingdom, and several other European and Asian nations.
The visa-free policy will allow eligible travellers to stay in Sri Lanka for up to 30 days, with a projected outcome of attracting more visitors to the island nation, promoting cultural exchange and contributing to its economic growth.
The decision aligns with its efforts to position itself as a popular tourist destination, known for its rich cultural heritage, and warm hospitality. The island’s diverse landscapes offer a range of tourist retreats – from beachfront family resorts along the Southern and Northern coastlines, to 4 star hotels in Kandy Sri Lanka, the country’s epicentre of ancient history, with tours around the area available through properties such as Cinnamon Citadel Kandy.
