Celebrating the Father of Thailand – A Beloved Monarch

Officially sanctioned as a public holiday, the birthday of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej which falls on the fifth of December is a day when the monarch Is celebrated and honoured as the Father of the Nation. Many provinces throughout the country had many special events with candle-lit ceremonies, concerts, and fireworks, as well as by wearing yellow which is considered to be the King ‘s colour. After his passing, commemorative events have become much subdued. Certain parts of the country will also have a ban on the sale of alcohol. Visitors to the country during this period of time could consider visiting the Bhubing Place in Chaing Mai which can be reached from many Chiang Rai hotels including the likes of Anantara Golden Triangle Elephant Camp & Resort to take in the extensive rose gardens which are open to the public during this time.
