Thailand Reopened for Travellers – Koh Samui Accessible Under the Sandbox Scheme

After a brief closure of its borders from December last year, Thailand reopened them once more to foreign travellers on 1st February 2022. This included resuming the Test & Go programme that offers quarantine-free entry to those fully vaccinated. Also reinitiated were the Sandbox schemes including for the island of Koh Samui. Fully vaccinated tourists must stay at least seven days in such a Sandbox destination; as part of the new protocols, they must submit to an on-arrival PCR test as well as one on day six or seven.

When it comes to accommodation under the Sandbox scheme, one must have a pre-paid reservation for seven nights at an SHA Extra+ certified property such as Avani+ Samui Resort; while travellers can choose from various room types including a pool villa, Koh Samui beach exploration and adventures can be enjoyed too. It is hoped that such an easing of restrictions will help boost arrivals and get the Thai tourism industry back on track.
