The Maldives Meets its 2022 Arrivals Target for Tourists – A New Goal Set for 2023

Ending another stellar year of tourism since the pandemic, the Maldives successfully achieved its target of reaching 1.6 million arrivals for 2022. This noteworthy feat was achieved in December last year and was celebrated with a special ceremony attended by Faisal Naseem, the country’s Vice President, at the Velana International Airport; the 1.6 millionth visitor, Tejas Sanjay Kothari who arrived from India with his spouse on a honeymoon, enjoyed a grand welcome and received various gifts as well.

Such travellers continue to flock to the country looking to enjoy seclusion, water sports and adventures on stays at some of the top resorts in Maldives; each located on a private island, these properties including Adaaran Select Hudhuran Fushi provide safe accommodation with stringent health and hygiene measures as well. While arrivals to the Maldives in 2022 saw an increase close to 27% when compared with 2021, a new goal has been set for 2023; it plans to welcome 1.8 million tourists by the year’s end which seems very gettable given this destination’s immense global popularity.
