A good sign for Turtle Conservation in Phang Nga – Efforts to preserve marine life pay off

The southern province of Phang-Nga in Thailand is seeing a good amount of success with its preservation efforts for sea turtles, with 78 hatchings and 96 egg lays for the leatherback turtle and green sea turtle respectively. The country has a history of protecting these creatures, and this event will help them thrive and add to the ecosystem surrounding many resorts in Khao Lak.

In Thailand, only one in a thousand hatchlings survive through adulthood. The help of active park rangers, who move the eggs to safe spots to be hatched, help to reduce interference brought on by human presences, and due to the advent of COVID-19 as well as opting for guided tours done in a humane manner by properties such as the Avani+ Khao Lak Resort, the chances of dehydration for those hatching have reduced.
