An event that brought together leading names in diverse industries, sustainability leaders, policy makers and change agents, Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week 2019 (ADSW 2019) successfully concluded last month. This popular event took place at Masdar City from 12th to 19th January, under the theme ‘Industry Convergence: Accelerating Sustainable Development’; featuring a wide range of events and workshops it gave people the chance to network and share ideas regarding sustainable practices, challenges and solutions.
Among the highlights at ADSW 2019 were the Zayed Sustainability Prize, the Future Sustainability Summit, the World Future Energy Summit (WFES) Expo and the WiSER (Women in Sustainability, Environment and Renewable Energy) Forum. The UAE has been at the forefront of sustainability initiatives which can be witnessed in various industries in Abu Dhabi. Luxury hotels are amongst the notable examples with properties like Anantara Sir Bani Yas Island Al Sahel Villa Resort utilising a novel cooling system using desert air as well as sustainable electricity and water practices.
