Adelaide Airport Welcomes Emirates’ Return: Completing Australian Network

Adelaide Airport enthusiastically announced Emirates’ resumption of daily flights to Dubai, commencing October 28th, 2024. This marks the final step in Emirates’ restoration of its pre-pandemic Australian capacity, reaching 77 weekly flights across the country upon the reinstatement of a second daily service to Perth in December. These flights, with a capacity for 68,000 passengers weekly, re-establish the vital connection first launched in 2012, which facilitated the movement of over 165,000 passengers between Dubai and Adelaide in 2019.

Brenton Cox, Adelaide Airport CEO, highlighted the significance of this service in completing the airport’s network, fostering city-to-city connectivity, stimulating travel demand, and boosting the South Australian economy, particularly benefiting those seeking connections to Europe. This achievement comes after extensive efforts by the airport to support existing airlines, restore mainland China and Hong Kong services, and establish direct access to untapped markets like Japan and the US. The daily Emirates flight’s return is projected to generate AU$ 160 million in tourism expenditure and freight exports while creating over 315 full-time tourism-related jobs in South Australia. Additional benefits include boosts for Adelaide hotels the likes of Avani Adelaide Residences with greater markets to tap into.
