Advisers Urge Hong Kong to Consider Business Travel Corridor with China

In June this year, government advisers urged Hong Kong to consider launching a quarantine-free travel corridor with mainland China for business purposes which would be a precursor to eventually reopening to other destinations too. Also in June, the Hong Kong and Macau Affairs Office (HKMAO) presented five expectations it had for John Lee, the Chief Executive-designate, and his team which included aspects of border reopening as well. In response, Jeffrey Lam Kin-fung and Regina Ip Lau Suk-yee, both Executive Council members, proposed that to facilitate business travellers, Hong Kong should look to initiate a quarantine-free travel corridor to the mainland at least on a small scale.

Subsequently, in July 2022, Hong Kong’s new Secretary for Health, Lo Chung-mau, stated that a full-scale border reopening with mainland China and other parts of the world was not possible immediately; he did add, however, that the government was looking into reducing any travel inconveniences, certain restrictions, and quarantine period for inbound visitors as well. This popular destination has much to offer for tourism and business and its very best can be experienced for those staying at a Tsim Sha Tsui-based Kowloon hotel; Hong Kong holidays or corporate trips here at properties like Park Hotel Hong Kong are worry-free as well since such accommodation providers have stringent health and hygiene protocols in place too.
