Affordable and Faster Travel: Singapore’s Express Bus Plans for 2025 – Improving Connectivity for Peak-Hour Commuters
Singapore’s public transport network is set to undergo a significant upgrade in 2025, with new initiatives aimed at easing peak-hour crowding and enhancing affordability. Transport Minister Chee Hong Tat announced that the refreshed Travel Smart Journeys scheme will offer fare discounts of up to 80 per cent to commuters who avoid the morning rush, expanding to include rail journeys for the first time. Additionally, four new City Direct express bus routes will launch, connecting northeast residents to the Central Business District. These improvements, part of the Bus Connectivity Enhancement Programme, aim to better serve areas like Punggol and Sengkang, where ridership on the North East Line is steadily rising.
The new express bus routes will also benefit those exploring the city’s key attractions and amenities. Visitors to Singapore can look forward to convenient access to hotspots near Orchard Road hotels, ensuring seamless travel between accommodations like V Hotel and the city centre. As Singapore continues to upgrade its infrastructure, these enhancements promise smoother and more efficient commutes for all.
