Air Seychelles Starts Flights to Sri Lanka – Other Airlines Begin Services Too

Providing a boost to Sri Lanka’s tourism industry, Air Seychelles commenced flights to this South Asian, island nation this year. The inaugural flight of the national airline of Seychelles touched down in Colombo, Sri Lanka’s commercial capital on 21st June 2023; the service which features twice-weekly flights on an Airbus A320 Neo aircraft links both these countries with a four-hour flight, opening new tourism opportunities. Additionally, due to an interline partnership with SriLankan Airlines, travellers will also have access to more than 20 connections to other popular destinations as well.

Air Seychelles is not the only airline which has started or added services to Sri Lanka. In June, Qatar Airways added a fifth flight to their daily service, while in July, Thai AirAsia began services linking Bangkok and Colombo four times a week. Last month, Turkish Airlines also began offering connections between Istanbul and Colombo and in October, Arkia, an airline from Israel, is set to launch the inaugural nonstop service connecting Sri Lanka and Tel Aviv. All this increased air traffic is helping to boost arrival numbers to the country as travellers look to visit key places of interest including Kandy; tourist attractions aside, this picturesque destination amidst the mountains has much to offer which can be experienced on stays at properties like Hunas Falls which cater to couples, families, and adventure-seekers alike.
