AirAsia X Launch Direct Flights to Kazakhstan – Airline Broadens its Horizons to Central Asia

AirAsia X has inaugurated its highly anticipated Kuala Lumpur-Almaty route, signifying a historic moment as the first direct passenger service between Malaysia and Kazakhstan. Launched on 14th March 2024, the new route offers convenient access with four weekly flights operated on Airbus A330-300 aircraft, boasting a capacity of 285 passengers.

This strategic expansion marks a significant milestone for AirAsia X, extending its reach into the heart of Central Asia. By providing a cost-effective and direct travel option, the airline anticipates a significant increase in passenger traffic, fostering cultural exchange and economic opportunities for both Malaysia and Kazakhstan.

AirAsia X, a leading low-cost carrier specialising in long-haul travel, operates as a sister company to AirAsia, the dominant airline in Malaysia by fleet size and destinations. Its established network already connects popular tourist destinations including Sri Lanka to key cities like Kuala Lumpur and Bangkok. With AirAsia, Sri Lanka has become an important hub for travel within the region; additionally, ISO-certified General Sales Agents such as Mack Air are helping to cater to the growing demand for international travel, fuelled by a wider range of affordable travel options from AirAsia and AirAsia X.
