Airlines from China Resume Flights to the Maldives – Chinese Tourists Warmly Welcomed

In January this year, it was announced that three airlines from China would resume flights to the Maldives; this came in the wake of the Chinese government easing travel restrictions, which gave its country’s citizens a chance to travel to such popular holiday destinations once again. On 18th January 2023, the first of these airlines, Beijing Capital Airlines, touched down at the Velana International Airport bringing with it the first Chinese tourists to visit the Maldives since 2020. On its arrival, the aircraft, which was carrying 198 Chinese travellers, was given a special water salute to mark the occasion, while the passengers were welcomed by key dignitaries; these included Wang Lixin, the Chinese Ambassador to the Maldives and Abdulla Maumoon, the Maldivian Tourism Minister.

Subsequently, other Chinese airlines resumed services too like China Eastern Airlines and Hong Kong Airlines providing this South Asian nation with a boost in arrivals from China which is a key source market for tourism. Such travellers can once more look forward to enjoying stays at the best resorts in Maldives especially properties in the idyllic North Male Atoll; these include private island properties such as Grand Park Kodhipparu Maldives which provides the ideal escape for couples and families alike looking to experience all this enchanting destination has to offer.
