Anantara Offer Guests a Diving Holiday with a Difference in the Maldives with a Five-Day Marine Expedition – Coral Conservation in Practice

Providing experienced divers with a unique chance to get involved in coral conservation, both Anantara Veli Maldives Resort and Anantara Dhigu Maldives Resort hosted a special five-day marine expedition recently. Apart from staying at a luxury resort Maldives has to offer, guests who possessed an advanced PADI qualification were given the opportunity to join with marine biologists and researchers belonging to the Khaled bin Sultan Living Oceans Foundation (KSLOF) who were involved in Starfish Control and Removal or SCAR for short. As part of this project the team conducted data analysis and quantitative reef surveys, while also getting involved in the removing Crown of Thorns Starfish (COTS) which are a coral reef predator. Guests got a hands-on experience as they joined in the dive and assisted in the clearing of Crown of Thorns Starfish from the reef, while also learning more about marine and coral biodiversity.
