An event that showcased some of the region’s famed fabrics and textiles, the annual Mae Chaem Handmade Teen Jok Festival recently concluded in the northern Thailand province of Chiang Mai. Mae Chaem is in fact known for its tube skirts or Teen Jok textiles and the festival which ran from 27th to 30th January 2017, gave locals a chance to display some of their exquisite creations. Visitors who stayed at hotels in Chiang Mai and attended the festival had the opportunity to see and learn more about various local products including other textiles that were handmade. Apart from also featuring a variety of Thai dishes, the event had bamboo rafting competitions as well. The region is becoming quite a popular holiday destination with accommodation options like Anantara Chiang Mai Resort offering an ideal base from which to experience the rich local heritage.
