ANZAC Day in New Zealand will fall on the 25th or 27th of April 2020 when both Australia and New Zealand celebrate the landing of their joint forces in Gallipoli, Turkey during the First World War in 1915. It is a day to remember the New Zealanders that served their country in the Great War.
ANZAC Day is a public holiday in New Zealand and the people attend parades, commemorations and celebrations all day. The parades mostly involve servicemen and women in their formal uniforms. On the 27th of April all schools, government offices and businesses will be closed. While some New Zealanders actually fly out to Gallipoli to lay wreathes of remembrance. Many also come down to the country. This period will find most of the luxury hotels in Auckland booked in with people returning to celebrate and remember the war dead.
