Bali Airport Reopens After Eruption – The Plight of Stranded Tourists

The international airport on the Indonesian resort island of Bali, Ngurah Rai was reopened due to a volcanic eruption stranding thousands of tourists and making domestic flights temporarily screech to a halt. The airport had to reopen just after 12 hours after it was closed in response to Mt. Agung belching smoke and ash. A change in the direction of wind pushed away from the ashes from Bali’s International Airport enabling flights to resume. More than 300 flights were cancelled causing many tourists who were holidaying at many a hotel and Seminyak beach resort the likes of Anantara Seminyak Bali Resort to linger more in the island until the prevailed calamitous condition was settled down. In spite of the eruption, Mount Agung’s status remained on alert level indicating the second highest danger warning.
