Bali’s commitment to sustainable tourism is gaining momentum, with its newly implemented tourism tax exceeding 7 million USD in revenue by mid-June 2024. This initiative, launched in February this year, requires international visitors to pay a tax of 10 USD upon arrival. These collected funds will be channelled to support the preservation of the island’s rich cultural heritage and breathtaking natural environment. Additionally, investments will be made in tourism infrastructure, ensuring an even more enjoyable experience for visitors in the long run.
Despite the tax, Bali’s popularity remains undiminished. For example, its I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport welcomed 1,940,828 passengers (around 57% international tourists and the rest domestic travellers) in April 2024 which was 19% higher compared to March 2024. This positive trend will be further bolstered by the launch of new direct flights connecting the island to Kota Kinabalu (Malaysia), Phuket (Thailand) and Cairns (Australia) in August 2024, promising even greater accessibility for travellers.
The island’s sun-kissed shorelines continue to be a top draw for tourists looking to stay at Bali serviced apartments close to coastal hotspots like Canggu Beach. These include those on offer at accommodation providers like Citadines Berawa Beach Bali which provides an ideal base for experiencing the fascinating culture and spellbinding beauty of the ‘Island of the Gods’.
