Batticaloa airport revives hope for Sri Lanka domestic air travel – Save Time and Travel in Comfort

The airport in Batticaloa was thus far utilized by the military for their various procedures. With the ending of a 33 year old war, there has been a rapid growth in Sri Lanka now known as the land like no other. The East area of the country is a must visit by both local and international travellers. Public transportation or personal transport methods can be time consuming. Therefore with the main purpose of convenience and less time consumption, initiatives were taken towards improving domestic flights. President Maithripala Sirisena opened the Batticaloa airport on the 10th of July. Tourists landing in Katunayake International airport can choose to enjoy the tropical beauty of the country. They are able to reside at one of the hotels in Negombo such as the Club Hotel Dolphin which is only a few minutes’ drive from the airport. There after they can choose to proceed towards further exploring the East and rest of Sri Lanka.
