Beijing is enhancing the experience for international tourists with a new travel pass that simplifies public transportation. Visitors can now purchase the pass using international bank cards at all 335 subway stations and both airports, marking a significant convenience boost. Dr. Wu Liyun from the China Academy of Culture and Tourism suggests that integrating the pass with Alipay could further streamline usage for non-Chinese visitors.
As part of this initiative, key transportation hubs will feature bilingual announcements, making the city more accessible. Beijing’s efforts mirror Singapore’s SimplyGo system, promoting a cashless and seamless travel experience. With tourism surging—over 10 million travellers passing through entry and exit ports this year—this initiative positions Beijing as a leader in tourist convenience. Upscale accommodations like Pan Pacific Beijing, a world class 5 star Beijing hotel, are set to benefit from this enhanced accessibility, making it easier for guests to explore the city’s attractions.
