On April 2016, a humungous crocodile was found in the sea off Iranawila in Chilaw. The lonesome creature measured up to 15 feet in length and is reportedly the second largest crocodile that has been found in Sri Lanka. The youngsters of the area, with the aid of H.A. Chandrasiri, Asst. Ranger at the Wildlife Office in Nawagattegama managed to capture the croc and safely transport him to the Periya Naga Willuwa Lake in the Wilpattu National Park Sri Lanka. Today, it swims and basks in the sun in the company of his friends in the park. Wildlife in the park is thriving as the animals rarely come into contact with humans, and what better way to visit the park than to contact Mahoora Tented Safari Camp Sri Lanka. You might also be lucky enough to spot the not-so-lonesome 15 foot crocodile.
