The Bohra community recently held their annual convention in Sri Lanka’s commercial capital, Colombo which resulted in an increase to both tourist arrivals and earnings. The convention was held from 1st to 10th September and attracted visitors from about 40 countries; city accommodation options be it a budget guesthouse or a luxury hotel Colombo has to offer including properties like Cinnamon Grand Colombo experienced peak capacity during this time.

The Bohra Convention, which took place under stringent security measures, gave Sri Lanka an added boost to its tourism industry which was severely hit after the Easter terrorist bombings in April this year. With tourist numbers slowly but surely picking up, Sri Lanka Tourism is hopeful that the upward trend will continue, and the country will be able to reach two million arrivals by year’s end.
