Cabinet Approval Sought for Sri Lanka’s Global Communication Campaign for Tourism

Sri Lanka’s long-awaited Global Communication Campaign is in the last stages before completion and will seek cabinet approval for it to be launched. This was highlighted on 6th May 2022 on the Daily FT news website which also quoted Kimarli Fernando, Sri Lanka Tourism Chairperson; she revealed that the campaign preparation and planning had spanned one and a half years including the period of the pandemic.

The Global Communication Campaign will mark the first time Sri Lanka Tourism will launch such an integrated campaign since 2008 / 2009 and will look to promote the island in 16 countries over five years. In total, 25 source markets are expected to be covered which will no doubt be instrumental in increasing tourist arrivals. Having reopened its borders, Sri Lanka is offering travellers a chance to experience the best of the island once more. Be it at beach villas in Mirissa or colonial-style bungalows in Kandy with a swimming pool including Pussellawa-based properties like The Lavender House, tourists have ideal accommodation options to choose from as well.
