Car Travel Across Greater Bay Area Permitted

Potential for Arrivals to Grow in Macau

In a bid to increase traffic flow along the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge, local private vehicles were recently permitted to traverse across the Greater Bay Area. Following the easing up of previous restrictions, private cars from Macau and Hong Kong can now travel along eight approved land crossings between Shenzhen and Zhuhai which are two special administrative regions.

While such measures are expected to increase falling traffic volume on this well-known bridge, it may also serve to increase visitor numbers to Macau. Five star hotels in this Chinese special administrative region including the likes of Hotel Okura Macau as well as lavish casinos continue to be a big draw for local tourists; they can now enjoy even greater access via the bridge which spans 55 km in length and at present is the world’s longest sea-crossing.
